-
Turkey Wing Broom – a traditional hand broom with a wide, sweeping shape
-
Hawk’s Tail Broom – a compact design, perfect for display or everyday use
-
Pot Scrubber or Cake Tester – small, practical tool for around the house
You’ll have the option to use natural or black broomcorn, or a combination of both, and choose from cordage colors including hunter green, black, cream, white, or maroon to personalize your work. You will also have the option to leave your brooms with natural ends (pictured) or cut for a more polished look.
Participants must be able to pull 35–50 lbs of pressure during parts of the class (body leverage is encouraged!), and have full use of their wrists and hands to safely and comfortably complete the projects.
All tools and materials are provided during class. If you’d like to keep creating at home, optional materials will be available for purchase at the end via cash or venmo: Floor spool – $5, Collapsible 5-gallon bucket – $10.
Leave with three completed brooms, the skills to keep creating, and an appreciation for this beautiful heritage craft.
Experience not necessary, just bring your hands, curiosity, and creativity.
This class will take place in a heated greenhouse, dress warm.
Cost is $90 per person, light snacks and NA beverages served. BYOB is allowed.
